Post Holiday Hair Rescue Package

With the summer coming to a close we all want to keep that post holiday glow just a bit longer.  But, however well you tried to protect your hair this summer it's inevitable that the sun will have taken it's toll, leaving it looking dry and dull.

Just like your skin, hair becomes dehydrated in the sun, making it prone to split ends and damage.  That, along with chlorine and sea water, it just doesn't stand a chance.  The sun acts like a bleach, even on natural hair, fading the colour and sometimes bringing out a much warmer tone.  Whilst time in the pool can leave the hair with a greenish tinge!

Don't worry, our top tips will get your hair back on the road to recovery.

Patrick, our Salon Director at David Patrick recommends:-

  • First and foremost get a trim, just enough to remove the split ends and damage, especially if you've got long hair or are trying to grow it.
  • Ask your hairdresser for a deep conditioning treatment to replenish some of the moisture loss.  Or, for a DIY solution Coconut Oil works really well.  Wash you hair with a mild shampoo, then gently towel dry the hair. Massage in the Coconut Oil, concentrating on the driest, most damaged areas and leave for 20 minutes or so. For a deeper treatment, wrap your hair in a towel or put a shower cap on while you relax in a hot bath, the heat will help the oil to penetrate.  Shampoo the oil out and finish with a conditioner on the mid lengths and ends.
  • If your beautiful blonde hair has been left with a tinge of green, tomato ketchup is just the job!  Wash your hair with a gentle shampoo, blot with a towel, mix your favourite tomato ketchup with some conditioner and apply to the affected areas, leave for 5 minutes.  Shampoo out and apply conditioner.  The red in the ketchup helps to neutralise the green
  • For darker colours faded by the sun, a Gloss treatment will help to restore the colour and give it back the shine.  Your hairdresser will be able to create the perfect  formula to neutralise any unwanted warmth or brassy tones and bring back the depth and richness making it look healthy again.
